FANTASTIC NZ TOUR

So glad I chose New Zealand Uncut for my trip. It was a great way to explore both islands and our guides were great
as well. The small group really added to the enjoyment. I highly recommend this
trip.

EXCELLENT GUIDES

We did the New Zealand Uncut hike of the north and south islands in February. We were tentative about doing a group tour, but we experienced a
great adventure with like minded people. We were escorted by some very talented people. Not only were they excellent guides, but also naturalists, and entertainers (Justin).
The food and accommodation were everything we needed and the snacks outstanding
(thank you Eva). The variation in terrain was well planned and provided ample opportunities to hike at different levels. New Zealand’s natural beauty combined volcanoes,
beautiful coastal hikes and rugged mountains topped by glacial waterfalls. A once in a
lifetime trip - that should be done more than once !!!
We would not go with anyone else.
~ Debbie B, April 2024

THE TRIP OF A LIFETIME

The guides were so accommodating, very well educated on the animals, fauna
and treks and they were so much fun. The food, the accommodation's and the
logistics all went perfectly. This was a 10 out of a 10! Grace, Oli, Andy and
Mark - best guides ever

General Information

What to Expect

Explore New Zealand on a guided small-group journey combining scenic day hikes, cultural experiences and comfortable hotels and lodges. Walk through volcanic landscapes, native forests, coastal bays and alpine valleys, carrying only a daypack.

The tour is graded B, with an average of 4–5 hours of physical activity per day. No previous hiking experience is necessary, but a good level of fitness will help you enjoy the walks. Tracks are generally well maintained, with some steep climbs and uneven terrain. Shorter walking options are available on selected days.

The optional Tongariro Alpine Crossing is the most demanding hike, taking approximately 7–8 hours with around 900 metres of ascent.

Equipment

Bring comfortable hiking boots or shoes, a 25–30-litre daypack, waterproof jacket and warm layers. A warm hat, gloves, thermal clothing, sunhat, sunscreen and insect repellent are recommended. Carry at least one litre of water, or two litres for the Tongariro Alpine Crossing.

Pack casual clothing, spare shoes or sandals, swimwear and a lightweight towel. Walking poles are available on request when booking. First-aid supplies, drinking water, maps and safety equipment are provided.

Guides and Safety

Experienced guides share their knowledge of New Zealand’s landscapes, wildlife and culture while managing the daily logistics. Local specialists join selected experiences.

The main itinerary walks are guided, although some alternative walks are self-guided. Routes and distances may change to suit weather, track conditions and group safety. New Zealand’s mountain weather can change quickly, so waterproof clothing and warm layers are essential throughout the season.

Food

Enjoy fresh, wholesome meals featuring local produce, with picnic lunches often prepared by your guides. Included dinners are generally served in hotel, lodge or local restaurants.

All breakfasts and most lunches and dinners are included, as shown in the daily itinerary. A few meals are at your own expense, giving you the opportunity to explore local cafés and restaurants at your own pace. Please advise us of dietary requirements when booking.
