We are committed to ensuring our clients ‘meet the people’ and have the best possible experience in New Zealand. The properties that we've hand-selected fall into a variety of different styles as noted below. The accommodations we use most frequently fall within the “Guest and Hosted” category - which New Zealand does very well! These properties are typically run by friendly New Zealanders who are passionate about their country and do a wonderful job hosting our clients. Read more about accommodation styles:
Guest and Hosted: For a closer connection to New Zealand’s people and culture, you may like to choose to stay in a more ‘home-like’ environment. Active Downunder packages include accommodation at many establishments around the country ranging from restored historic houses to former churches and schools that provide a unique and sociable style of accommodation. They include country inns, charming bed and breakfast accommodation often in a character heritage home or villa. You can expect a comfortable and attractive bedroom often with tea and coffee making facilities, television and phone with ensuite bathroom. Lounge and dining areas are usually shared with other guests. Some of these properties host a complimentary cocktail hour to get to know their guests and share the local secrets. In most cases, breakfast is included. Most Guest and hosted properties we use are “Qualmarked”. This is New Zealand tourism’s official quality mark that signifies a tourism business has undergone an onsite assessment to be deemed professional and trustworthy.
Hotels: From international chains to local originality, in New Zealand it’s easy to find the style of hotel that will make you feel at home. We offer a range of 4, 4 1/2 and 5 star hotels.
Self Contained and Serviced: If you like independence and privacy, we offer a range of self-contained apartments. Usually located in major cities or resort towns. They are similar in price to a high quality hotel suite and offer a choice of studio, one bedroom or two bedroom. All units have tea, coffee making facilities, most will have TV and many will have cooking facilities and laundry.
Luxury Lodges: New Zealand has developed a distinctive style of luxury accommodation, not found anywhere else in the world. We call them lodges and to stay in one is to treat yourself to the ultimate in luxury. Small and highly individual – some opulent country mansions, others modern architectural masterpieces – no two lodges are alike, but all offer discerning travellers very personal service and the finest food and wine. Always located in the most beautiful, usually less traveled parts of New Zealand, a lodge stay offers a true escape. There’s often a chance to indulge in fishing or golfing passions with expert guides or to simply relax in blissful surroundings. Most are prices fully inclusive of all accommodation and meals.
